Pack for a Purpose

Pack for a Purpose

The Thornybush Community Projects proudly offers it support to the following initiatives through various sponsorships and partnerships.

Wild Shots Outreach

Wild Shots Outreach was founded in November 2015 and won the SANParks’ Kudu Award for “best environmental education and capacity building programme”. Its aim is to engage young people from disadvantaged communities in wildlife and wild places through photography. The programme prioritises high school students from government schools bordering the Kruger National Park. It teaches new skills, providing a “focus” and introduction to the natural world and helps inspire and raise the aspirations of these learners – the conservationists of tomorrow. Thornybush Community Projects have committed to assisting Wild Shots Outreach with access into the reserves in which our Safari lodges operate. Since the partnership began, we have provided 72 young learners from local communities with their first ever safari game drive experience. We have also committed, through using the Pack For A Purpose platform, to encourage its guests who can afford to save a little space in their luggage, to deliver any donations received on a monthly basis.

Dixie and Utah Scouting program

The Scouts started at Utah and Dixie villages to contribute to the education of its young people. Through the value system based on the Scout Promise and Laws, their aim is to help build a better world where people are self-fulfilled as individuals and can play a constructive role within their communities. The packs (cubs 7-11 years) and troops (scouts 11-18 years) through offering a variety of interesting, fun and challenging activities, encourages physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual growth. The Thornybush Community Projects have committed, through using the Pack For A Purpose platform, to encourage its guests who can afford to save a little space in their luggage, to deliver any donations received on a monthly basis.

Wisani Day Care Centre

The centre based in Dixie Village was started in 2000. Its main aim is to provide early child hood development for its 55 learners ranging from 6 months to 5 years old. The little day care is funded partly by the South African Government but often the soft daily needs such as basic stationary are not covered. The Thornybush Community Projects have committed, through using the Pack For A Purpose platform, to encourage its guests who can afford to save a little space in their luggage, to deliver any donations received on a monthly basis.

Nourish Eco Village

Nourish is a Not For Profit focusing on building resilient communities. Their project spectrum is broad- ranging from supporting toddlers in their early development centres to the 50+ learners who are fed and have access to the eco villages library for daily learning, to their elderly beneficiaries who tend to a vegetable garden for home consumption. The Thornybush Community Projects have committed, through using the Pack For A Purpose platform, to encourage its guests who can afford to save a little space in their luggage, to deliver any donations received on a monthly basis.
